ISTANBUL ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL STARTED!
Opening ceremony started by Selcuk Avcı,Banu Binal and Dilara
Tekin as moderator. Banu Binal: “This work is going to be succesful only with participators” with that she emphasizes how important are the participators and sponsors. At the opening ceremony detailed informations given about participators who take places at the stream of festival. They planned organize most of the workshops as physical but because of the pandemic conditions they are going to organize
online workshops. Selçuk Avcı said ironically “It is interesting that first weekend closure come across the opening ceremony”
Due to technical issues the workshop started a bit late.It started with
the meeting of executives and workshop’s participants. They planned
event like there is no pandemic and we are sitting around a table in
physical conditions. Aim of the workshop is fiction the daily life in a
natural disaster situation. We discuss “What is paradigm?” and “What
is paradigm shift”.After we discussed we developed the diagram that
created after discussion with asking questions and looking from
different point of views.We talked about new normals and new rituals
after we named breaking points as paradigm shift. We presented our
ideas about things that we cant predict and the events that named as
paradigm shift. Today’s event started with meeting and ended with
discussion.Tomorrow event will continue where it left of with the
designing part.

Main theme of the panel “Why is it natural?”
First panel started with Selcuk Avcı as coordinator and Burak
Pekoglu,Omer Selcuk Baz,Aslı Ozbay and Ali Derya Dostoğlu as
participants.
Omer Selcuk Baz tells about his presentation and his relationship with the naturality and Stones. Baz shows stone examples that they older than few decades.He also shows buildings which he builds and his landscape-building products.
Baz said “The wall which builds from stone is always the wall which builds from stone, there is no interior wall line or exterior wall line, now if i try to say the elements of the wall ıll be confused but the wall which builds from stone is a one layer” This idea born a critical approach to the today’s walls and Ali Derya Dostoglu told his opinions about that topic.
Omer Selcuk Baz “Anyting happened, it is its happening form, ı want
to learn with the dynamics which floats it across the time”
"Because of the employers used to city life we decided ripped the inner

Ali Derya Dostoglu started his presentation.
He told about a Project which he made at Ayvacık, Sogutlu Village
He told about Sogutlu Village there is a palette which includes stone
and material and it used very carefully
After that he shows images from his Sogutlu Village Project for the
pleasure he gets while he was cooparate with villagers.

Aslı Ozbay told her many opinions about Stones.Some of them are
“The Stones at the Cappadocia just like a dough if you work on it thin
then you’ll get thin results if you work on it thick you’ll get thick
results”
“When we say cappadocia only thing that comes to our mind is fairy
chimneys but the tuff stones on there is a aging beautifully.”
“During our flights we saw devastating and very big scars on the
mountains”
At the same time Turkey is a heaven of marble and she adds stones
export as a raw material and import as processed.And she criticized
that the ram material’s are not processed before exportation and said it
is a inattention.During the talk she explains the block stone’s going to
IMIB China. “The blocks going to china used there as a big blocks at
luxury projects, we dont buy back, that is an urban legend.”

Burak Pekoglu started his speech with those words

Burak Pekoglu presented his projects with natural stones.
He example the management building at Sakarya.He mentioned about interdisciplinary work and management of transaction during the project process.
A question from Selcuk Avcı to the Burak Pekoglu “ Louis Kahn said “We have to ask to the brick what do you want to be?” Which answer you get when you ask the stone what do you want to be?” Burak Pekoglu said “I approach to the stone to create a sculpture, ı love carve on the stone.

The workshop executing by Tulin Gorgulu, Ebru Erdonmez, Ervin Garip, Yesim Hatırlı,Cemil Akçay and Serhat Ulubay They remark
this workshop is also a competition lasts 24 hours. It has started at
14.00 pm with executive team’s introducing theirselves and it
continues talking about square.After that they presented Besiktas
Square and its environments change through years. They said at
19.00pm and 23.00pm we will meet again.
The workshop aims studied perception of square through the Besiktas
Square.The workshop expected studies about the square within 24
hours.After 24 hours participants studies evaulate and there are prizes
for first 3 participant selected by executives.
We are gather together at 19.00pm.They answered participants
questions.First the meeting starts at the chat section after that it
continues with participants introduce theirselves by opening cameras
and their microphones and asking questions which they struggle to
find an answer. The meeting is a little bit chatty than other meetings
and Tulin Gorgulu’s cat constantly stay at in front of her camera
during the meeting.
Historical Traces and Virtual Cities: Scenarios of Istanbul
Historical Traces and Virtual Cities: Scenarios of Istanbul is a
workshop that executing by co-leXer team aims virtual experience.
It lasts two days. The workshop expected 3d models of historical
buildings using the Istanbul’s historic maps after the information that
given to participants about VR. The purpose of the workshop is
integreted those 3d models to a virtual reality and set different
narratives.The Workshop’s Process started with co-leXer team’s
introducing theirselves and it continues that participators mention
theirselves.Executives talks about their excitements.
After the meeting part the team talks about their VR
experiments,evolution of VR technology and that technology’s
benefits to the architectural education and architecture after a little
detailed presentation aboult history of VR
We study on the historical maps of Istanbul and we talk about the
design process which is start at tomorrow

Exploration Of Places in A Little Scale
Studio: Niş:Ahmet Can Karakadılar,Behice Ozer,Ekin Unal,M.Naidat Yawer,Muge Beyazıt,Simla Sanlı.
They explore body,place and city with playing games in real and
virtual life.
Exploration Of Places in A Little Scale workshop started with focusing the problems they created for workshop .They planned this game lasts 3 days in other words 72 hours.They aimed exploring and think about body,place and city in 3 days with 15 different virtual games which aimed as understanding the real world. The process of exploration has a mechanism that a participant
interrogates and explores his/her physical environment step by step that turns into a treasure hunt.The mission of explorers is find the golden key which reveal the secrets of the physical place.
Little dance, sky watching, catching order office,talking places, surface of dialogs,hand to hand.
WOW SPEECH OF GREATEST EXPLORER ???
Participants who find the golden key and finish the game, at 7 December 18.00 meet with little scale explorers face to face.

Participation is a new concept in turkish “imece” and it’ll turn into a social benefit or causing conflict among the participators.It also
enables many different possibility.With the participators we learn looking from different point of views.

involved therefore children learn how to respond and respect other ideas.
About Tbilisi Architectural Biennial
A biennial that is mix of Physical and Digital workshops,events etc.
At the result they created an online skyscrapper that includes seventy
four stores at each store there is a participant and their works from biennial.

At this event participants share and discuss their different architectural diciplines.
At the pandemic conditions changed and we have to adapt those conditions.Therefore we rearranged our lives,events and many things
