"Paradigmap is our reaper!!"

"Meeting in the sky"
"Kite is balance"
"Why is it prohibited to fly kites in Adana ?!"
Yuvacan Atmaca started his speech by introducing the XLab community,

which he said to be the founder and catalyst.
"Our main goal is to have fun through architecture"
Atmaca mentioned that XLab Group has a group starting from
Mardin Artuklu University and covering a wide scale from
graduates to students."I am the catalyst of the community, they
form an open call, gather, unite, and I speed things up and
mediate"; Continuing his words, Yuvacan Atmaca made an
ironic approach by saying the paradigm is our reaper. Knowing
that they will be included in the daily followed and created
bulletin and seeing a Paradigmap team member among them in
the workshop, Atmaca expressed his ironic idea with this
statement.
"We saw a lot of kites in Mardin during the quarantine period"
Yuvacan A;"We are in separate houses, within a certain
boundary, but children from their own roofs can share a
common sky and play".With these words, the workshop team
drew a lot of attention to the sky metaphor and talked about
their own understanding.
"Kites will be our avatars"
Our main goal in the production of the workshop is for everyone
to fly the kite they have created from their own city under
pandemic conditions, to shoot them on video and to combine
them.
"New common area in the pandemic; Sky"

Doğan Kalak, one of the workshop leaders, expressed his ideas
as follows: "We treat our kite idea as a special idea because our
only remaining common area is the sky ..."
Zahit Mungan, a kite maker, kite producer, kite artist known by a
large mass and who has achieved many successes in Mardin,
was a guest on the first day of the workshop.
Zahit Mungan; "I turned my house into a kite workshop"
"One of my biggest dreams was to fly a human kite with a kite. I
flew people with a 6x10m kite"
"Shahmaran is an icon in Mardin and I made a 3-dimensional
kingfisher kite, I sewed 8 meters and 800 pieces one by one"
"I had kite festivals in Mardin, it was my biggest dream"
Mungan, who started to explain the technical information of
kites after his words, talked about the Tailed Hexagon Kite,
Tailless Hexagon Kite, 3D kites, delta kite, rokkaku Japanese
kite and gave technical information.
"Why is it prohibited to fly kites in Adana ?!"
In the following minutes of the workshop, an incident in Adana
was voiced during the curfew imposed within the scope of the
pandemic. The people of Adana, who were locked in their
homes with the curfew, covered the whole sky with their kites,
and therefore flying and selling kites were prohibited in Adana.

Material Selection in Architecture, Innovative Design-Production Techniques

Organized by Yelda Gin, the selection of materials in
architecture, innovative design-production techniques and the climate crisis open call event, supporting the use of natural materials, 20th century It was a presentation that advocated the transition from the mode of production to the production of
sustainable building materials. In the presentation, which started with wooden material, subjects such as the production techniques of industrial wood, its usage areas, the carbon footprint it produces, the wooden structures realized, its ideality for the circular economy and its resistance to fire were discussed.
Then, the advantages of the soil material, pressure resistance, moisture balance, temperature control and similar advantages were mentioned. Structures produced with different techniques in different parts of the world were shown. In addition, the disadvantages of the soil such as not having a place in the regulation, the low number of people who know how to work with the soil, showing different characteristics depending on where it is located, being a slow-progressing process, requiring a lot of labor and not being able to pass the construction phase without certain tests were also mentioned.
Finally, it was mentioned about the potentials of bamboo
material (vegan steel), that large spans can be passed, it can be a stronger material when used correctly, and that it has zero carbon footprint when used in place.
Yelda Gin, who made a presentation for about 40 minutes, ended her presentation with Cedric Price's words "Technology is the answer, what about the question?" In the last 20 minutes of the time allotted to him, he answered questions from the audience.

kent belleği kartları 2.jpg

The purpose of Memory Of City Cards -which is 24 cards- is remember the architectural works that we lost them day by day with the active role of participants.Emine B.Tasavul explains why they choose the 24 buildings that we’ve lost day by day where they’re at range of Büyükdere to Islands:…We think some of them are that we cannot skipped and some of them aren’t noticed from anyone…

Aslı Tusavul, Emine B.Tusavul Tilbe Küçükönder.

At this Project they start off from collections for those cards. Those cards have the “On the trail of lost traces” theme and this theme invites people to observe, travel and experienced the Istanbul City.
Aslı Tasavul ,if there is no pandemic, imagines collect those cards from the tradesmen. She hopes after the pandemic maybe the collection is getting bigger with the cards we collected from tradesmen and it will become a game playing with a map. “ Enter a place and experience the with our bare eyes. “Dont ever forget how precious is making an eye contact.”

Future Archive |Daily Life Memory Workshop Started their second day!!

spaces according to the water issue has showed. At the workshop
participants has different jobs and that creates and adds to the
workshop more point of view. We dont know when the earthquake has
come because of this creating ideas like user-focused design, flexible
places and modularity before the earthquake about places that at risk.
With the “Is there a place cover us during the earthquake crisis?”
question they discussed alternative place suggestions. After that with
the creating parasite places at the breaking points idea of a place
which is social, flexible and owned to the ground has showed.
At last a place suggestion interfering down instead of interfere above

CAT KAPI: Architecture From The Bureau To Office

Cat Kapı’s today’s guest was Yesim Hatırlı. After Yesim Hatırlı
sets up her office at 1990 at 2003-2018 she works as academic
at METU after that she works as academic at Atılım University.
At beginning of 2010’s she was a presedent of TSMD.

“Either we are going to be greater office or we stayed at less
work more control policy and we choose the second.”
Now im glad where our office at the market.Sometimes i am
thinking other possibilities but still dominating concept to the
construtcion site is more attractive than anything else.

“Terms of luck and unluck changed”
Yesim hatırlı mentioned “seizing the information is more
important than ever”.Hatırlı continues “The method of
researching and learning has changed. Students way of
behaving has also changed, their field of interest narrowing
down and their distractions increased”. These are big problems
on their education processes. They are trying to learn from
shortcuts and images. They aren’t patient they read less and
they cant reach the optimum intellectual level.
Yesim hatırlı mentioned those factors has to be more
stimulative. “Students cant collect and travel like the old times.
Learning with seeing, their perception levels, hitting to the road
and travelling are not easy as the old times.

kolaj1.png

“Pessimism exists”
“ Because of the economic crisis our youth people are not happy . Finding job, setting up a business are too hard. Maybe the solution is working in different fields. I can’t say open an office. It is too hard except you get works or entering competitions.

“From bureau to office…Everything has changed”
Bureau-Office topic hasn’t changed technically but their working styles has changed. We paid our first computer very much. We work together at static, electric and landscape. From to drawing to building to Project management everthing has changed a lot. I dont know it is harder or easier.

“We dont have more than 10 people”
A question asked to Hatırlı “ What are you thinking about instutionalising and are you a instutionalised office? How many people you work with?” Hatırlı said “We dont have more than 10 people”.
Hatırlı: “Inters come and go. Desings coming from us but we work as a team. There are competitions in the office and we choose them from bigger projects together. Our teammates can join in any point of the design process.

“Because of “Am i an architecture or am i a business manager?”question we dont front to the getting bigger.

“A good employer is would rather interpret to what the architects say than accept all of thing that architects say”
A good employer is important but not about the budget. She/he is open to the discussion and having a vision. She/he doesnt accept the what the architect say and having a vision to discuss the topic.

“Secret Desires”
Yesim hatırlı suggest the book of Cengiz Yetkin’s “Classical Music Can’t Played With Whistle”. “Necessity has linked to the states, we desire music, necessity list is a predefined thing and it is a list of quantities. Architecture is for user it makes it is
different from other arts.If the user is not happy and the users cant get rid of his secret desires it is not a good building.

“Architecture is placeless”
Im an architect who is living in Ankara but that is not important. An architect who build an important or a famous building is a nationwide architect it is also same in the abroad.

kolaj2.png

“An architect is just like an orchestra chef”
Yesim Hatırlı suggested to the young architects: They have to do their jobs with passion, pleasure and love.Unfortunately without love being creativity is not that easy. Used them as in any means is also not that easy

“Do Not Enter The Pinterest”
Learn with travelling, details. Open your perceptions, feed yourself on every land. Art,music, cnema, scuplture and Picture feed yourself from everything.

“Architecture is a field that feed on and getting support from daily life but in Turkey it is not demandble and known. "Because of those reasons Hatırlı says Events like Istanbul Festival of Architecture are important and explaing their ideas about the way archictecture’s going and she ended her talk.

Köye Doğru: Türkiye’nin Değişen Beşeri Coğrafyası Ve Mekan

The keynote, which started broadcasting under the coordination
of Neslihan Şık, said, “Are our lifestyles changing? Are we
carrying our own habits on the right to this village or are we
coming from there? It started with questions. In his speech,
Zafer Yenal stated that he took place in the platform within the
context of architecture as a sociologist and started his
presentation with the concepts of “migration to the village,
towards the village”.
"The interaction of the epidemic in terms of space is very
important in the period we live in." He talked about the effects of
epidemics on our perceptions of place and place in cities since
the 1600s. And he started to discuss human geography by
evaluating how the dichotomies of "nature-culture" and "space-
society" affect each other as a whole.
"We should not look at Covid19 alone, but in which world we
live in this epidemic. How were we living?" He talked about the
transformations experienced in the context of nature and
culture, saying that the epidemic has a function that will
accelerate and intensify these transformations we live together.
He gave examples in his words on the concept of "food", which
is one of the reflections of our deterioration in our relationship
with nature and our alienation from this relationship. In this
regard, he emphasized the situation when the concept of
"Consumption"comes across.

"OUTBREAK: NEW GENERATION FARMERS"

Yenal mentioned that the trend of returning to rural is being in the
trend. Accordingly, he included the land sales table in his

presentation. He added that this situation was taken with the
aim of permanent or temporary settlement in the countryside.
Yenal also stated that the transformation of the definitions of
urbanism and peasantry is approaching, and even the periods
we will see forms in the city in a different way are approaching.
He also included the projects exemplifying the approaches of
this orientation on design in his presentation. Speaking about
sustainability, Yenal also touched on the point that it is not just
a historical, environmental, social and political issue.

Tarihsel İzler ve Sanal Kentler: İstanbul Senaryoları'nda 2.Gün

On the second day of the workshop, the participants transferred the Istanbul map given to them in three dimensions and thus
the first phase was completed. In the second phase of the workshop, the Unity program was used to transfer these
projects to the VR base. First of all, Merve Şahin from the co- leXer team explained the basic usage details of the Unity
program to the participants with sample models. With the Unity program, participants were asked to add various textures,
various lighting to the stage and optional music on the models they are currently working on. Participants who choose and
apply these add-ons according to their individual constructions will personalize the model according to what they want to tell.
The different parts of the map obtained at the end of the workshop will be combined by the executive team and
transferred to the virtual reality environment. The final product will offer us a virtual reality experience in Istanbul, where many
small city scenarios designed by different participants are combined on the map and tells the urban transformation of the
city. Different Istanbul and different ideas will be waiting for us in this map. We will be able to experience fiction as well as
fiction transitions.

In a farewell speech executive team again in VR technology and the possibility of Turkey he told the work done enough in
this regard. They also cited a few examples in the world that inspired them, and they stated that they wanted to continue to
work on this topic. And they shared their contact information by stating that their participants could communicate with them in
their VR projects.

If you ask my personal opinion, I think VR technology will be a serious norm in the coming years, especially in the field of art
and of course architecture. Virtual reality is a subject that excites all of us seriously and drives production. The Co-leXer team is a very seminal team. Even before I saw the final

product, I was very excited about their sincere atmosphere in the workshop, their research on this subject and their efforts in
the workshop. You can follow @co_lexer instagram account to keep track of their future work. I highly recommend you to stay
on track and even not miss out if you catch their workshop.
